Winter Soldier

FIC: Home (1/1)

Title: Home
Character: Molly
Word Count: 291
Rating: PG-13
Another one for medie's "Because We Are Awesome Drabble-a-thon".

She didn’t expect the pains of sadness she felt. She thought she would relish the freedom college brought. But for the past two weeks since her dads left her there, Molly curled up in her bed and cried.

She couldn’t understand it. She liked her roommate. She had made several friends. However, when night came so did the tears.

Damn it! She was eighteen years old. She was too old for this, but how could she stop it?

“I’m not giving up and going home,” she whispered to herself in the dark. “So if I can’t go home, then why not bring home to me?”

She closed her eyes and concentrated on her dads. Within minutes, she could see Matt and Mohinder as clear as if she were there.

Mohinder bent over his desk, studying a stack of notes. His desk lamp was the only source of light in his study. A careless dark curl flopped into his eye as he read. Molly smiled. Mohinder was forever forgetting to sleep when he worked on something.

The scene changed and she found Matt at the station. Apparently he had pulled the night shift again. He walked down a hallway, a folder under his arm. ‘Going to interrogate somebody?’ Molly wondered.

Matt stopped in the middle of the hallway. He stared straight ahead for a moment, and then smiled.

‘Molly.’ She jumped when she heard his voice in her head. He always knew when she was looking for him. ‘Good night, Molly.’

She let the image disappear and opened her eyes. Her heart felt lighter. She no longer felt the urge to cry. Sighing, she turned onto her side. It felt good to know she could find them, no matter where she was.
Winter Soldier

Miracle (1/1)

Title: Miracle
Fandom: Heroes
Characters: Heidi and Simon
Word Count: 258
Written for medie's Because We Are Awesome Drabble-a-Thon.

“Mom! Mom! Come look!”

Heidi’s heart jumped into her throat when she heard her oldest son Simon yell. Was he hurt? Was something wrong? She ran into his bedroom, grateful she could walk again.

Reaching the room, she immediately realized she didn’t have to worry. Simon was sitting by his window, a huge grin on his face.

She crossed the room. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

“You’ve gotta see this,” Simon grinned. He then turned to the window and his eyes unfocused.

“Simon, if this is some sort of joke, it’s not...” She stopped the minute rain began to pour outside. Before she could say anything, it stopped as quickly as it began. “I...Simon, what’s going on?”

“Just watch.” The rain started again, and then stopped.

Heidi sank onto her son’s bed, the breath knocked out of her. “How...?” But she knew the answer. She knew before she even asked the question. “Nathan was telling the truth,” she whispered.

Angela had convinced her Nathan was a crazy alcoholic when he tried to tell her he could fly. She had left without ever hearing him out, terrified he would hurt her or their boys. But watching her son start and stop the rain, she knew there was something to what he had tried to tell her.

“Mom, are you okay?”

She blinked, realizing Simon was standing next to her. She pulled him into a hug as a smile spread across her face. “Yeah, honey. I am.” She knew what she had to do for herself and her boys.

Fic for karrenia_rune. :]

Title: And You Can Be My Long Lost Pal
Author: amazingly_me. :]
Characters/Pairings: Caitlin. Vague mentions of Peter/Caitlin? Sort of? :P
Rating: PG? Slight language, and some depressing themes. I promise it isn't all angst, all the time. ;]
Recipient: karrenia_rune
Prompt: Caitlin in the future, not a damsel in distress.
Summary: When Caitlin wakes up, stiff and numb, on the second day of quarantine, she knows that she cannot be just another face. These faces will get lost in the shuffle.
Author's Notes: Title taken from Paul Simon's, "You Can Call Me Al," because the entire album is nothing if not lyrical, and I am constantly gacking titles from it. ;] Rather depressing, though hopefully the ending isn't entirely sad.
